On Thursday, Salesforce announced the Enterprise AI Harness, a structured integration of AI infrastructure and concepts the vendor has been developing to address coordination challenges. The company emphasized that "no single system has the complete answer" to routine business operations—customer relationship management handles customer data, enterprise resource planning tracks inventory, field service management manages delivery logistics, and support systems handle customer interactions, each operating largely independently.
This fragmentation creates what amounts to AI leakage throughout enterprises, where individual agents attempt to drive automation within their own isolated domains rather than collaborating across organizational boundaries.
Six capabilities unified under one control plane
Salesforce's response consolidates what it terms "six trusted capabilities" from its portfolio alongside a new AI control plane intended to support an open, composable AI architecture. The Enterprise AI Harness brings together Data 360 (unified customer data platform), Informatica (data integration and governance), MuleSoft and Agent Fabric (API connectivity and multi-agent orchestration), Tableau (visual analytics), Agentforce (agent platform), Salesforce Guardian (security and compliance), and the core Salesforce platform through a shared architecture and consistent user experience.
The Agentic Enterprise won't be defined by which model a company chooses. Models will continue to change, and intelligence will increasingly be available everywhere. What will differentiate an enterprise is the trusted, proprietary context it brings to that intelligence — starting with the customer — and its ability to securely turn that context into action.

Building on existing harness infrastructure
Salesforce has not waited until late 2026 to develop harness technology; components within the six-tool collection, such as Agentforce Vibes (a natural language vibe coding tool), already employ specialized execution harnesses including Mastra and the Claude Agent SDK to handle local agent execution loops. This announcement represents a more comprehensive, platform-wide formalization effort.
The six-way alignment spans context, agency, action, governance, security, and models. Salesforce is introducing a new AI control plane that enables developers to view, manage, and control agents. The vendor states that engineers can "use the six together as one system or take only what they need," deploying with Salesforce technology, third-party solutions, or a combination of both.
Developer and operations feedback shapes design
Practitioners on developer forums and B2B software review platforms have offered candid assessments of Salesforce's existing tools. An operations associate named Ashish B. commented in August regarding Agentforce as a standalone product: "One area that could be improved is the initial setup and configuration process. Building effective agents can take some customization and a solid understanding of the workflow. The platform would be even better with simpler configuration options and clearer, more straightforward guidance on setting up agents for specific business use cases."
Salesforce appears to have absorbed this input. The Enterprise AI Harness links reasoning to business rules, policies, and controls to ensure predictable execution. It renders these capabilities reusable across the organization, allowing context to flow between agents and models. This enables secure invocation of actions and workflows wherever needed, with governance and security applied uniformly as AI spreads through the business.
A DevOps engineer writing on Gartner Peer Insights in March noted that Informatica "works well" for combining multiple data sources and handles both batch and real-time processing. However, the reviewer cautioned that "Debugging and monitoring pipelines can be difficult in complex workflows. Initial setup is challenging for new users and requires some learning curve. [The] User Interface could be improved for better usability and faster navigation."
The accompanying AI control plane aims to address such concerns by providing a unified location for enterprises to discover and register agents and AI capabilities, establish identity and policy, manage lifecycle, evaluate performance, observe behavior and outcomes, and control cost across Salesforce and third-party AI. According to Salesforce, this "gives enterprises a consistent layer of visibility and control as AI expands across teams, applications, models, and systems — without requiring every agent or AI experience to be managed separately."
Six pillars of trust
The Enterprise AI Harness rests on six trusted capabilities that Salesforce has defined:
- Trusted Context merges customer context with data, metadata, semantics, knowledge, real-time signals, memory, and understanding of how work flows across the organization.
- Trusted Agency equips agents with reasoning, planning, state, memory, and orchestration capabilities, blending flexible AI reasoning with deterministic controls where precision matters.
- Trusted Action securely links AI to applications, APIs, workflows, tools, and business processes.
- Trusted Governance manages the data, metadata, policies, and processes that AI depends on, including lineage, quality, guardrails, and controls.
- Trusted Security enforces identity, permissions, privacy, data protection, and runtime security over what AI can access and what agents can perform.
- Trusted Models provides security through intelligent model routing based on accuracy, performance, cost, and requirements.
Headless architecture and third-party integrations
The Enterprise AI Harness is being constructed headlessly from the ground up, with capabilities exposed through MCP, APIs, skills, and plug-ins. This design allows Salesforce capabilities to extend beyond traditional Salesforce applications into services including Claude, Slack, and Microsoft Teams.
Many of the underlying technologies supporting the Trusted Enterprise AI Harness are available now, with additional capabilities and the unified experience scheduled to roll out beginning in early fiscal year 2028.
