Anthropic has made Claude Code's cloud sessions available to a broader audience, moving the feature out of research preview and into general availability for eligible subscribers. The rollout includes promotional credits—$100 for Pro users and $250 for Max subscribers—to encourage adoption of the cloud-based execution model.

Cloud sessions shift code execution from your local machine to Anthropic's servers, allowing tasks to continue running even after you disconnect. This approach lets developers initiate long-running operations and check back on progress later without maintaining an active connection.

According to Anthropic, "Cloud sessions run on Anthropic-hosted infrastructure, so the work keeps going even without your computer running."

How to access and claim credits

Users can launch cloud sessions from multiple entry points: the Claude Code interface at claude.ai/code, the Code section within the Claude mobile app, the desktop application, or the command-line interface using claude --cloud.

The promotional credits operate independently from standard Claude usage allowances. When you initiate a cloud session, the credits are applied automatically, and Anthropic notes that "If you hit a limit locally, keep going in the cloud until your credit runs out."

Subscribers must claim the offer by October 7, with any unused balance expiring on November 4. The promotion applies only to individual Pro and Max subscribers who maintained active subscriptions starting September 23. After the promotional credits deplete, cloud session usage reverts to counting against your standard plan limits, with no additional fees for the cloud container itself.
