GitHub is phasing in renewed enrollment for Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise over the coming weeks, welcoming back customers who use credit cards or PayPal to fund their subscriptions. Prospective users can choose between the available plans based on their requirements. Those whose preferred tier remains unavailable should revisit the signup page in the near future.
As part of efforts to enhance the stability and performance of Copilot infrastructure, the company is tightening identity verification procedures and revamping how it handles payments from customers using credit card or PayPal methods.
What's changing
Customers subscribing to Copilot Business or Copilot Enterprise through credit card or PayPal will encounter the following modifications:
- New seat assignments for either Copilot Business or Copilot Enterprise will demand payment collection before granting users access to Copilot.
- Beginning with the next billing period, all assigned seats under Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise will be charged upfront. Existing subscribers will experience this change starting October 1, 2026.
- Should usage surpass the included allocation, additional charges may apply to enable continued Copilot use by you and your team members.
- Included usage allowances may be adjusted proportionally throughout the month to match how seat costs are prorated.
What's not changing
- Pricing structure and seat cost prorations for Copilot Business and Enterprise remain unchanged.
- The option to buy extra usage beyond standard included limits persists.
Customers currently using Copilot Business or Copilot Enterprise with credit card or PayPal payment methods will see these billing modifications take effect on October 1, 2026.
Completely removing Copilot and signing up again at a later date may result in reapplication of the updated account vetting and billing procedures.
